    Storyteller
Robert Howat’s stories are wry ironic takes on classic themes and historical chronicles laced with modern references. His recent creations are his Henry and Louie stories, about naughty but bold adventurer rats who encounter giants, ghosts and pompous old clergymen in equal measures.

Having worked as a tour guide in Edinburgh’s Old Town, Robert is experienced with school groups and historical education visits. He enjoys telling stories to adults, young people and children, entertaining them by pointing out the ludicrous nonsense in life, and creating a rich descriptive environment within stories to stir and stimulate the listener’s imagination.

Born in St Andrews in 1971, Robert Howat heard his first stories from his eccentric old grandmother and an old Irishman called Paddy who babysat for him – scurrilous tales about relatives and tales of the Bogeyman and the leprechauns. A Fifer who also lived for a time in West Lothian, he is now settled at Howgate Farm in Lanarkshire. Robert is very interested in Scottish history, both military and social, particularly the Jacobean period, and also works as an actor.

Robert was involved in Giant Productions’ Art on the Bus story tour to venues in Glasgow as well as the Wonder Tales storytelling drama festival in Edinburgh.
